Elvian pupils have raised more than £250 for earthquake-devastated Haiti with an innovative fundraising scheme.

Students have been offering to do jobs for friends, neighbours and relatives and donating the money they earn to the DEC Haiti appeal.

The highest total so far has come from 4-year-old Christina, in Reception Class, who raised £30. Christina raised the money by baking honey and banana scones and selling them at her local church.

Headteacher Paul Bevis said: “I am very proud that students have used their own labour to help others in so much need.”

The DEC appeal was launched on 15th January and continues to run now, as the crisis in Haiti continues. Donations are still desperately needed – please visit www.dec.org.uk
