Berkshire Book Award Launch 2009
A group of 12 pupils from Years 7-9, along with Mrs Toms and Mrs Munns, were delighted to be able to attend the launch of this year’s Berkshire Book Award on October 15th at Bearwood College. The Award is run every year to find the best “good read” for 11-14 year olds, and the winner is voted for by the students themselves. At this year’s launch we had the privilege of hearing from two great authors, Tanya Landman and Sophie McKenzie (whose book Blood Ties was last year’s runner-up). They spoke about themselves and their writing and kept the children thoroughly entertained! We then had the opportunity to buy copies of their books to get signed. Altogether a most stimulating afternoon, and the chance now to nominate our favourite books published this year for the next Award! We’d better get reading…..
